Kelly Mallette serves as Senior Director of Government Affairs for Ronald L. Book, P.A., In this role, she helps oversee the firm’s Capitol lobbying practice, including the overall development of strategy, approach and execution for the firm’s extensive portfolio of clients.
Kelly’s long experience in politics began decades ago, when, at the age of 19, she worked as an intern to one of Florida’s most recognized lobbyists. Since then she has grown into a powerful force in the Florida Capitol, providing lobbying services to a broad range of firm clients, including high-level business interests, hospitals, health care providers, professional associations and many others. Her experience as Senate aide to a former Appropriations subcommittee chair, provided her with unique insight into Florida’s budget process, which has yielded hundreds of millions in funds for clients for everything from instructional materials, to complicated hospital formulas, to health care rate increases and other various grants and special appropriations.
A gifted writer and communicator, it is not unusual for a client to see Kelly’s writing end up in official documents like substantive legislation, speeches and veto messages. She also helps oversee the firms political and fundraising efforts, advising clients on campaign financing, fundraising management and compliance.
Early in her career, Kelly served as policy advisor and speechwriter for the then Mayor of Miami. She draws on that experience to assist in managing the firm’s local government consulting practice. She focuses her expertise on zoning and permitting in multiple jurisdictions, working to expedite approvals for a wide range of clients.
Active in Republican politics, Kelly is on the Miami-Dade County Republican Executive Committee, the Board of Directors of the Miami-Dade Republican Party and is also the Vice-Chair of the Finance Committee. She was named Republican of the Year for Miami-Dade County in 2015. She has been a delegate at each of the last four Republican National Conventions and accepted an invitation to attend the 2016 Presidential inaugural events. Kelly also recently represented the firm on the host committee for Governor Ron DeSantis’ inaugural celebration.
Once an elected official herself, Kelly served a 4-year term as a Commissioner in the Village of Biscayne Park, her hometown. She also served on the Miami-Dade County Safe Neighborhoods Parks Bonds Committee, overseeing millions in public funds approved for park projects in Miami-Dade County. She is a member of the Florida Association of Professional Lobbyists (FAPL).
